Canella Hostal

In Autumn/Winter 2015, Daphne delved into the enchanting beauty of

Moscow during winter, drawing inspiration for the collection.

After a short trip to Seoul where she assisted Canella in the sourcing of fabrics and trims, her primary task was to create a fabric manipulation reminiscent of Russian cottages, to be incorporated into Canella's designs. Daphne's research focused on the intricate woodwork of window frames, which inspired her initial design resembling lace. However, due to its complexity, she opted for a more manageable yet equally impactful design. This involved meticulously cutting fabric strips by hand and pinning them individually onto the pattern, ensuring each piece fell seamlessly into place.

Daphne also played a  role in the pattern development process, preparing the fabric manipulation for Canella's tailors and seamstresses to assemble into the final garments.
